World Intellectual Property Organization

Promoting IP as a Force for Innovation and Creativity

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is the leading global forum for the promotion and development of a balanced and effective international intellectual property (IP) system. As a specialized agency of the United Nations, WIPO’s role is to empower governments, businesses and individuals to realize the power of IP as an agent of positive change in the world.

In 2012, Gen.a was engaged by WIPO to deliver a new brand and communications strategy aligned with the Organization’s Medium Term Strategic Plan (2010-2015). The project involved a high level of consultation and engagement with internal and external stakeholders including an in-depth audit and assessment of key audiences and communications challenges to gain an understanding of the environment in which WIPO operates.

The new brand strategy supports WIPO in strengthening its communications with key audiences, ultimately leading to a global understanding of the value and potential of IP for the benefit of all countries.

Our senior writer and editor was also seconded to WIPO’s offices in Geneva for three weeks to work with WIPO’s Communications Division on the development of communications materials to promote the broad range of IP-related services, activities and resources that the Organization offers to both the public and private sectors.

We have subsequently been engaged as brand and communications experts to present at major international forums organised by WIPO.
