Vivid Sydney

Our City in Lights

In 2008, Gen.a was engaged by Events NSW (now Destination NSW) to conceptualise and create new major festivals incorporating a series of existing activities and new platforms for innovative and creative community events.

In 2009 Vivid Sydney was launched with the vision to be the biggest international music and light festival in the Southern Hemisphere. At the time, Sydney did not have a significant winter festival on its annual calendar and Events NSW wished to create an umbrella event to attract intra- and interstate visitation during the city’s quieter months.

Vivid Sydney now stands as a unique public festival attracting in excess of 400,000 visitors annually. It has positioned Sydney as a creative hub within the Asia-Pacific region and every year transforms the city into a spectacular living canvas of music, light and creative forums in and around the Sydney Opera House and Museum of Contemporary Art, Circular Quay, The Rocks and city centre.

Gen.a was engaged by Events NSW to conceptualise and create the following for Vivid Sydney:
