Australia Awards

Australia’s ‘leadership for development’ program

As one of the world’s most prestigious scholarship programs, the Australia Awards provide the foundation for extending Australia’s global network of influential leaders and advocates.

In 2011 alone, the total Government expenditure for the Australia Awards was $273.2 million enabling over 4,400 recipients from over 160 countries to undertake further study, research and development.

Gen.a was commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to develop a new brand strategy for the Australia Awards. The strategy positions the Australian Awards as one of “the world’s most prestigious ‘leadership for development’ programs.”

Over a period of six months Gen.a worked with the Australia Awards team to:

Create a unique design solution for the Australia Awards identityDevelop a comprehensive brand guideline and toolkitDeliver an integrated communications strategyComplete a training and engagement program tailored to a variety of stakeholders across multiple countries.

Our challenge in developing the Australia Awards brand was to create an identity that reflected the prestige of the Australian governments scholarships while also resonating with numerous international markets.
